Shipping
Information
Shipping a puppy is an easy going experience to humans, but a scary experience for the animal.
I have been shipping each week for 3 years now and have only had one serious problem.
This could have been avoided if I knew what I know today. I have learned that it is not a good idea
to ship a puppy that is under 2 pounds and will no longer do it. Note: if your puppy is older,
especially if your puppy is older and bigger, additional fees might apply.
In the summer, it is sometimes difficult to ship because of weather restrictions in the warmer states.
In the winter, it is sometimes difficult to ship because of weather restrictions in the colder states.
To remedy this problem, we use the only airlines that is temperature controlled at all times.
That airlines is Continental. Below is a list of all the airports I have shipped to using
Continental Airlines. I know there are many more, but I just have not called to find out about them yet.
The price for shipping is $275 or $285 if it requires a larger crate. Shipping a dog that weighs
over 25 pounds will cost a little more because the crate will have to be a lot larger.
Shipping out of the United States may cost more depending on which counrty it is.
The price includes shipping, handling, a vet health shipping certificate, and the crate.
Below the Continental list, you will find lists for American and Delta airlines.
Keep in mind that the temperature may negativly effect my ability to ship until the weather
breaks unless we are dealing with Continental. I can also use ground transport if necessary.
They are close to $300 and weather is not a concern.
I do not like ground transport that much though.
I do not like the idea of my puppies traveling with all those other puppies for days at a time.
The drivers have to feed and clean them. This means that they touch other puppies,
and then, they touch mine. This is a big turn off considering all the diseases that some places have.
I do not like my puppies exposed to possible agents of diseases. With airline travel,
everything is over and done with quickly, and the airline workers are not allowed to open the crates.
Enough food and water are in the crates to get them to where they are going.
I will not ship a chihuahua puppy until he or she is at least 2 pounds.
I can ship two puppies that are close in age in the same crate for only $25 more. It is so much
less stressful on the puppies to be together. If you were planning on getting two, it is best
to get them both at the same time, and it is a lot less expensive. If you were only wanting one,
who knows, your neighbor or relative may want one too. At a savings of $250, it is worth mentioning.
I now ship for free in the continental US if your purchase price is over $1,500.
Please Note: When shipping, delays are always possible. Although it is rare, puppies can be detained because of bad weather.
Since I have no control if I am in Florida and your puppy is half way to you in let's say Newark, if your puppy has to be boarded for the night, you will be charged
a boarding fee by the airlines when you pick your puppy up. Most airlines charge $100 for the nights stay. They take the puppy to a kennel that is equiped to
take care of stressed out puppies in travel. They transport the puppy back to the airport the next day, and let you know when you can pick him/her up. This
does not happen often. In most cases when a flight is delayed, they can put the puppy on the next flight.

If you are wanting to ship a puppy, please try to purchase an older puppy. Shipping a puppy
is safe, but the shipping process scares a puppy in a huge way. Granted, once it is over, it is
over, and the puppy will get over it. This is usually the case, but problems can arrise. If you
want me to ship a super tiny puppy, you must understand that you need to be home for the puppy
for about 4-5 days to help them over come the stress. If not, your puppy could end up in the
hospital from the stress. They need to be fussed over when they go to a new home as it is. When
they are shipped, they need to be tended to all day long and through the night. If you are not
ready to commit yourself to care for a super tiny puppy, do not purchase one.
We also offer door to door ground transport. Ground transport is expensive though. You can call 1-866-ARE-PETS
to ask them about their service. Tell them they will be picking up from Ocala Florida. Make sure to inquire
about the cost of insurance too. It typically costs about $350-$400 for ground transport.
I will not use cheap ground transport services because I want to use a service that puppymills cannot afford.
I do not want my puppies transported next to puppymill puppies. If I do transport a puppy with ground
transport, I will give them an extra Neopar shot to significantly reduce the chance of my puppy
contracting parvo. My puppies will not be transported until they are at least 3 months old by ground transport
because I want to make sure they have plenty of immunity and strength to handle the journey.
