I am very proud of my kennels. Each kennel has 2-4 dogs in it and is 200 square feet. (My Presa Canarios have runs that are much larger, more like the size of a normal back yard.) In times of severe weather, I bring each dog in and put them
in a crate until the weather clears. Never are they left outside if I could not tolerate to be outside. Rain is not a big deal since most of the
kennels are under roof. Temperatures below 20 degrees and high winds are the only thing that worries me. This is why I bring them all in when trouble is possible.
They hate being in crates, but it is only for a short period of time. Now that I got my new dog houses, I no longer have to worry about semi cold weather (20-40 degrees).
They have lots of blankets inside, and the dog houses are insulated with two inches of insolation. I now sell these dog houses. Click here for more information about them.

The reason I am showing you my kennels is because if you purchase a puppy from someone, you should know how the adults are housed. Many breeders advertise that
their puppies are raised in the home or under home raised loving conditions. Of course they are raised in the home! Who would leave puppies outside in cold or hot
weather? Puppies cannot maintain their own body temperature until they are 10 days old. Breeders would be insane not to raise the puppies inside. In other words,
if a breeder advertises that their puppies are raised in the home, big deal! They are probably trying to mask the fact that their adults are abused. I would ask whoever
you are considering buying a puppy from to see the conditions of the adults. I would ask to see where they live. If they say they all live in the house and the breeder
has more than 5 dogs, I would most likely assume that the dogs live in crates most of their lives. This is extremely abusive to the dogs who need to exercise to be happy.
Keeping them in crates, is a sick thing to do. People that do this need to be in jail in my opinion since they keep their dogs in jail.
Do not think this is uncommon. It is very expensive to build kennels like mine, and many breeders do not spend the money. It is easier and cheaper to crate them.
Some people may have 40 dogs running all around their homes, but who knows who is breeding to who and how can they all run around when the people are not home?
I have been to several breeding facilities and only a handful have impressed me. Dozens have appaled me and made me lose sleep. Please note: The bottom pictures were
taken before I got my new dog houses.

Someone brought to my attention that my wire cages for the puppies look like puppymill housing. Puppymills house their ADULTS like this. I do not house my adults on wire. My puppies are on wire during the time of their lives when they are still with their mothers and are starting to get a bit older. The reason for the wire is because I want to see their stools. If they are not of wire, their mothers eat their poop, and I never get a chance to see it. Since tiny puppies are subject to a host of problems, I want to make sure I address them all. That is why I use wire bottom for my puppies when they are a certain age.
My nursery is now wide open. I used to have it in a bedroom, but felt sorry
for the mothers having to stare at 4 walls all day for months at a time. I closed
my screened room in with windows and moved my nursery. Now when people come here, they
can look right in. My mommas and puppies have a great view now and are not so bored.
They now have 16 acres to look at with all kinds of wildlife.
They also take turns running around the tiled floored room.
This is the best air conditioner you can get for a room like this.
I had to get the best to make sure my babies were comfortable and safe.
A close up of some of my litters and how they live.
They start out on newspaper, but advance to wire bottom
to help keep them cleaner. Please note: I do not use or recommend
the use of wire bottom cages for long. I use them only when the puppies
are all growing up together and tend to jump in and out of poop without the use of wire.
Wire cages are not good for their feet, are uncomfortable, and should not not be abused.
